T&T’s Lorissa Rivas will contest for the WBC heavyweight world title fight at Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Chaguanas on September 28. The local boxer will face off against a formidable opponent in Annie Mazerolle.
This is the first time in the history of this country that a WBC heavyweight title fight (men’s or women’s) will be contested for on home soil.
Boxing promoter Boxu Potts said: “We have no doubt she will be able to beat this opponent, she’s, bigger, she’s stronger, she’s faster, she’s much better and she is being trained by the same people that have trained Floyd Mayweather, so she will not be in short supply of technique.

“That being said we are looking a bit further down the road, should she win this title, we would be engaging Clarissa Shields for the undisputed WBC super-middleweight title of the world.”

The undercard is as follows: Yuray Cisnero Precal vs Aaron Williams, Kevon Diaz vs Leon Dover, Joel McRea vs Nigel Edwards, Kerston Manswell vs Elvis de Jesus Garcia
